WOW Walk 4 Water (Family Event / Fundraiser)

Women of the Wells is having its annual WOW Walk 4 Water in Huntington Beach on Saturday, September 18th. Our mission is to bring clean, uncontaminated water to impoverished people throughout the world. Millions are dying each year of waterborne diseases caused by unclean drinking water. “In as much as you have done it unto the least of my brethren, you have done it unto me.” The walk raises awareness of this human tragedy that results when people do not have access to clean drinking water. Funds raised will be used to drill bore wells in Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, South Africa, Cambodia, China (Cisterns only), India (Northern and Southern), Laos, Myanmar (formerly Burma), Philippines, Thailand and Peru. The walk starts on strand (the paved path) on the beach where PCH and Beach Blvd intersect. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 9:30. Everyone is welcome. The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® is an important community event bringing together women, men, families, friends and businesses to celebrate breast cancer survivors and remember those who have lost their battle with the disease. The early run/walk steps off at 7:30 a.m.; survivor tribute at 9:00 a.m. and the second run/walk starts at 9:45 a.m. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged; to register and for more information visit www.komenoc.org. Funds raised support the Komen vision of a world without breast cancer. 75% of funds raised will provide breast health services in Orange County and 25% will fund groundbreaking breast cancer research. The City of Dana Point presents a FREE picnic concert in Lantern Bay Park on September 26th, 2010 at 3pm. The Capistrano Valley Symphony led by conductor John Santana will present All-American music including works by Bernstein, Copland, Ellington, Gershwin, Foster and Sousa. Special guests, the 1st Marine Division Band from Camp Pendleton will be presenting patriotic favorites in full dress blues. The Capistrano Valley Symphony and the Marine Corps Band will join forces in a GRAND FINALE - including canon blasts and true patriotic flare. This community event is a truly once in a lifetime experience for the Orange County Community. 70 musicians on stage together is not something you see everyday. Children are invited to an instrument petting zoo - where they can try instruments and meet musicians from 2-3pm.
